Great Gable July 8th 2012

So this was our second Twitter walk and we had some new faces joining the gang.  We had the very lovely Tanya aka @heelwalker1, Bruce aka @brucehardy2 and Si aka @SiButterworth.  Luckily I had made enough brownies for the extended gang!!  Tanya and I had our essentials, mascara and lippy, all part of being a Glam walker!!

Met in the small village of Seathwaite and took advantage of free parking.  Paying for parking is so against my religion!

So off we set up the steady climb of Sourmilk Gill.  We were very lucky with the weather and it was a gorgeous sunny day well until we started ascending and the cloud came down.

As we climbed up Green gable onto Great Gable visibility was limited.  Got to the top in good time even though I was told off for walking too quickly!!  My running is helping with my hill fitness!!  But we all stopped on the top to eat our bait and more importantly have the sacred brownies!!  I did a random act of kindness and offered 2 fellow walkers the last 2 pieces.  Their silence indcated they were enjoying it!!

I thought the summit of Great Gable was a bit boring and felt cheated out of my view at the top.  But as we descended down to Styhead Tarn the cloud lifted and there was my view!

As we got to the mountain rescue hut, decided to carry on to Sprinkling Tarn, before descending down Ruddy Gill, Grainsgill towards Stockley Bridge.  Then was only a short walk back to the car.

No walk would not be complete without a walkers reward!  So off we went to The Langstrath for a well deserved pint.
