Kendal climbing wall is one of the tallest walls in the country. The wall is a customer of mine, I was cheeky and tapped them up for some free passes including gear hire and he gave me some rope so I can practice the figure of 8 knot needed for climbing.
So clad in Lycra, harness and climbing shoes on, off I went to the small wall to learn how to tie ropes and have my first attempt at inside climbing, Si made it look so easy, I need to practice this!
So once I’d sussed out the hand and foot holds I was off, it was ok going up but then what goes up has to come down. After learning to trust my harness, it was lean back and Si gently lowered me down. Then there was no stopping me, after doing 5 climbs, Si said lets go into the big room eek.
These were a lot higher but was really getting into it and loving it. It is hard work especially when I was doing all the climbing as couldn’t belay so Si could have a climb. We had a look at the bouldering room. By this time I was starting to feel tired and it was not pretty my feeble first attempt at bouldering!
It’s definitely something I would like to do more of and learn a better technique. So thank you very much Si was being very patient with me and showing me the ropes and hopefully can do it again sometime soon š
You did great Gina. A natural – maybe š
