After our walk on Monday and the promise of good weather, decided to do a mid week walk. After a post walk discussion in the pub, it was decided to do Sale and Ling fell.
So Tanya, Gary and Stu joined Dave and I on our Wainwright bagging. Stu bought along his gorgeous collies. We met at 6.30 at Eskin. From the car park we went straight up onto the grass ascent of Sale.
All of our legs were feeling the after effects of Mondays walk. It was a clear night and soon we were on the top of Sale. The summit was the world’s smallest cairn!
We walked along the fell and were rewarded with a fantastic view of Bassenthwaite. It was nice looking across to Ullock pike and seeing what we climbed a couple of days previously.
A quick descent and were ready to do fell number 2. Ling fell was my 86th Wainwright!! The good thing about embarking on completing the Wainwrights, is taking you to fells that I would probably would never visit. This evening had fantastic views from small fells, I guess size isn’t everything!
Ling was an easy walk, the path went round the hill and circumnavigated its way to the top. We were lucky to just catch the sunset as we approached the trig point.
A few pics and then it was a steep descent back to the car. Another great walk out with good company and banter. They even came with no brownies!!
A walkers reward pint of Bluebird at The Pheasant inn before saying our goodbyes and planning our next adventure in the hills.
