July
So half through the year and my big birthday!! The year has flown by and cannot believe that had completed 30 things off my list. Climbing Snowdon was on my list and thought well if we are climbing one, might as well do all 3!! So did this before flying out to Ibiza. The weather was glorious.
So first climb was Snowdon, Chris a follower from twitter came to join us. The weather was perfect though the top was covered in cloud. I have never seen so many people on a mountain or have to queue to touch the summit marker.
Next was my home mountain of Scafell Pike again was shrouded in cloud.
This was the hardest day as then had the long drive to Fort William. I had forgotten how beautiful the road was up to Fort William. I had climbed Ben Nevis twice before and never had a view. But third time lucky I got my coveted view and was not disappointed.
Then to Ibiza, I have completely fallen in love with this Island and have booked to go back in September 2014. My 40th birthday…I had a mini melt down feeling that being 40 was so grown up and I had not achieved all that I had wanted to. I had a wonderful birthday, I went to Café Mambo for dinner VIP stylie and watched the sunset. Then fuelled by champagne went onto Pascha and did an all nighter. Both of these things were on my list. Not too old to party, just takes longer to recover.
Back from holiday and the summer beer festival at Hawkshead beer hall and a twitteratti walk. The weather was fantastic and perfect chance to show off my tan!!
Then it was Kendal calling, doing a festival was on my list. I faced my fear of camping (copious amounts of cider and Sailor Jerry’s help) and pootopia porta loos!! It was a great weekend and made better by going with the godfather of festivals our friend Alan and his friends and family. I have booked to go again next year.
August
First weekend and my in laws from London were up on holiday in Ullswater. The house is amazing and we are lucky to gate crash their holiday. The weather was awful and usual attire for summer walking in the lakes, shorts and waterproofs!
Another thing ticked off my list was busking to earn enough money for my lunch. My friend Tanya agreed to sing with me and this was when she was sober!!
I had my belated birthday lunch at Rothay Manor in Ambleside. 36 friends and family gathered to celebrate my milestone. Had a wonderful day and felt like a wedding as took lots of family photos.
August saw me be a centrefold in Best magazine. A journalist had come across my blog and the rest is history. Couldn’t believe that I was front page with Holly Willoughby!
Another thing crossed off my list was to drive a supercar. My friend lent me his Porsche for the day. Awesome car to drive and we had a great day posing round the lakes.
More Wainwrights ticked off and Bank holiday Monday, I finished the Northern fells. Was a blistering hot day and third time lucky got my view from Skiddaw summit.
September
This was a very busy month!! Lots of things ticked off my list.
First thing was food fight. Thank you again to the low wood for making this happen. We had a bad taste dress code and was hilarious.
Did one of my favourite walks of the year. Clough Head to Seat Sandal linear walk. More importantly managed to bag 10 wainwrights!!
Next off my list was a trip on the Orient Express. This was the most amazing experience and a memory that will last forever.
I learnt to the ancient art of knife throwing!
I did my first wild camp and was on the summit of Sargent Man for sunrise.
There is something very special about having the hills to yourself!
Then I went to the Isle of Man to do another thing off my list, the TT course on the back of a motorbike. This was great fun but had forgotten what it felt like to be in Leathers when you need a wee!
Also managed to squeeze in a few after work walks. By the end of the month the nights were drawing in.
