You’ve got to take advantage of good weather when it comes your way, especially after the recent spell of bad weather. It’s nice going out after work, it clears the head after a hards day work and there’s something very nice about having the hills to yourself when everyone else has gone home.
The initial plan was to do Grey Friar, Great Carrs and Cold Pike from the Three shires stone. A little optimistic in hindsight. As when we had set off, the weather was so windy and was tired from being at work all day decided just to do Cold Pike.
It was a steady climb up, the clouds lifted and had majestic 360° views round from Wetherlam to the pikes and Bowfell in the distance.
As with other Wainwright summit always check with GPS that we were actually on the summit. Cold pike my 181st wainwright.
A few snaps and decided to descend via Red Tarn. I’m not a fan of just going back the same way!
A few more posing shots 😉
Was such a lovely evening but could definitely feel an autumnal nip in the air.
