A favourable forecast meant a trip over to Wasdale to do Caw fell and Haycock. Ria and Stuart joined us. It is such a drive over to Wasdale but when you have views like this, you know you’re going to have a good day.
A quick check of the map and off we went.
A steep initial climb meant a few view stops. It was such a gorgeous day and couldn’t believe I was walking in short sleeves.
The path levelled out and just before heading up towards Scoat Tarn, we took a left turn straight up the front of the crag. This took us onto pots of ashness – High Pikehow skirting round Brown band onto Silver cove then onto our first summit Caw Fell. It felt as if we were walking for ages before our first summit.
Finally on Caw Fell, my Wainwright 210 and a perfect place to have a much earned lunch.
Refuelled it was off to Haycock, with lovely views down to Ennerdale keeping us company.
It took no time at all to reach Haycock.
Sam and Teah who are Stuart’s gorgeous collies. They are excellent walking buddies.
From the summit of Haycock the main path off towards Scoat Tarn and joined the path we had earlier ascended on. The light on Wastwater and the Screes was beautiful.
Soon the car was in sight. Another 2 ticked off bringing Wainwright total to 211. Only 3 more to go!
As we drove to the Strands for our walkers reward, the sky turned a wonderful pink. I was cursing that I haven’t learnt how to use my camera properly, so I could capture scenes properly.
A walkers reward at The Strands was a perfect end to a great day in the hills.
