So I missed the Briery wood hotel cake competition when it was on last September as was away on holiday. So I was pleased when they announced they were hosting another one in June. It was in aid of Alice Escapes so a very worthy cause.Continue reading “Completing number 33 off my 40 at 40 list – cake competition”
So the big 40 is nearly upon me grrr. Having to tick the next age group up when filling out forms. Feels like a lifetime ago when I hit my first milestone of 13 and hitting the teens. Being 40 seemed sooooo old back then. Luckily with having enhanced coloured hair, I won’t be able to see the grey hairs. Though I have had to pluck a couple of white eyebrows out!! Also a visit to the opticians and now need glasses. But for distance not for reading, so rocking the sexy secretary look and the world feels like it’s in HD now!Continue reading “Life begins at 40?……”
So having heard that Holmescales activity centre had got a new tank, gave them a ring to book having a go at driving a tank. So the weather was not going to be great on bank holiday Monday so it was booked to do it then.
Having arrived at Holmescales, Wayne the centre manager and our instructor introduced himself and was a short drive to the tank track.Continue reading “Completing number 30 off my 40 at 40 list – drive a tank”
The Keswick to Barrow (K2B) Walk is a 40 mile sponsored walking and running event in the Lake District. This is probably the toughest thing I have ever done! FACT!! When last years walk was on a friend called Cathy was doing it and I said I’ve always wanted to have a go at that so I foolishly said next year I’ll do it with you. So it made its way onto the list. Dave decided he was going to do it with us despite his dodgy knees. Don’t tell his consultant what he’s been up to!Continue reading “Completing number 19 off my list – Keswick to Barrow walk”
“The marathon. Where an average runner becomes more than average.” – New Balance

So number 13 is to have a life drawing done of myself. My friend Jen who lives in Barcelona and an artist, said come over and have it done here. Jen said I have lots of artists friends that would love to paint you especially with your curves! So have booked to go in June. Plus having it done in another country means there will be no embarrassing bumping into people saying “oh you look different with your clothes on”
So today was going to be an action packed day at Laggan Outdoors. First up was clay pigeon shooting, after we had signed our disclaimers it was into the land cruiser and off up the hills. The outdoor centre is in a fantastic location.
So always fancied having a go at archery and whilst at Laggan Outdoors could do this too. I found archery a lot easier than Clay pigeon shooting.Continue reading “Completing number 31 off my 40 at 40 list – Archery”
So after a google search, found that Laggan Outdoors in SW Scotland had the longest zip wire in the UK. Only this week to be upstaged by one in Wales that is a mile long.Continue reading “Completing number 40 on my 40 at 40 list – go on a very long zip wire”
They say you should do something that scares you everyday! So that’s why abseiling made it onto my to do list! I had a mini taster of what is was like when I went to the climbing wall. Si’s words “trust your harness” in my head.
