A bank holiday meet up in the hills and a chance for some of my fellow tweeters to meet Jen. As I had only run the Brathay marathon the previous weekend, I decided we would do Fellbarrow and Low Fell. A relatively easy walk and then to the Kirkstile inn for lunch and walkers reward. Continue reading “Fells, food and good craic”
I had said that after my last walk, that would be it for Wainwright bagging till after I had completed the Brathay marathon. Ermm about that….Continue reading “The last NW fells”
After ticking off quite a few in this area over the last few weeks, it left Catstye cam as the only one left to complete in the Wainwright’s Eastern fell book. I can’t believe we left it out when we climbed Helvellyn via the edges. Back then, I wasn’t in obsessed bagging mode. Plus for me it also about having a good walk.
Let the Wainwright obsession continue……..

Having a day off during the week is twice as nice. The last holiday day of this financial year was booked in. We had decided to do Holme fell and then go to one of our favourite places “The Drunken Duck” for lunch. Continue reading “Size isn’t everything…..”
When I moved to the lakes back in 1990 my love of fell walking began. As a softy southerner I didn’t know the lakes or hills. But soon fell in love with them. I went walking to explore new areas, enjoy the stunning views that I was now lucky enough to call my home.
So an impromptu walk with friends in the Far eastern fells. It had been a few weeks since my last fell fix. Continue reading “Good craic, wainwrights, creme eggs, brownies and single malt”
With a favourable forecast, sent messages out to friends to join us on a walk in the North western fells. Taking in Whiteside, Hopegill head, Grisedale Pike and Whiteless pike. Continue reading “A walk in the North western fells with friends”
So the last walk of 2013, with a favourable forecast headed off to the hills. With hill fitness not at it’s best, we revised our arranged route to do Hartsop Dodd, Little Hart Crag, Red Screes and Middle Dodd.
So half through the year and my big birthday!! The year has flown by and cannot believe that had completed 30 things off my list. Climbing Snowdon was on my list and thought well if we are climbing one, might as well do all 3!! So did this before flying out to Ibiza. The weather was glorious.
