So after nagging Gary for the last few weeks to get his last Wainwright done, we set a date. His last wainwright was Kirk Fell and decided to tag in the Mosedale Horseshoe for good measure.
I have wanted to do this walk for awhile and definitely needed a good day for it. So with fingers crossed arranged a twitteratti walk to do this. I like a linear walk and was excited about the prospect of ticking off 10 Wainwrights, though I have done Helvellyn before.
With a terrible forecast for the weekend, my first wild camp was cancelled again. I think personally it’s Mother Nature telling me to stick to hotels!! Having seen the sunset on the last couple of evening walks, I truly can’t wait to experience it from the top of a fell with a malt in hand. I did suggest to Gary that we camp on Binsey but he said no! A proper hill for your first camp, so fingers crossed for a good forecast soon. Continue reading “Newlands horseshoe – Sept 8th 2013”
So my Wainwright obsession continues!
Living in the lakes affords me the luxury to get out in the hills when the weather is good. As a friend said, there is something decadent about being out on the hills when everyone has gone home.
It’s been a busy week of walking, living in the lakes you have to take advantage when you can. So with a window of opportunity on Saturday afternoon, decided to do Raven Crag, High Tove and Armboth fell.Continue reading “Saturday 31st August -Raven crag and beyond…”
Another twitteratti walk, this time taking in our final 4 Wainwrights to finish the Northern fells. After a conversation on Twitter,Mike and his girlfriend Jennifer were going to join us with the promise of brownies. That is the good thing about twitter, like minded people coming together.Continue reading “The final 4 Wainwrights in the Northern fells”
Having just flown back from Ibiza was definitely itching to get back into the fells. With more birthday celebrations and a tweet up at the Beer festival in Staveley the previous night, decided on a more leisurely meet time of 11am.
With my first wild camp having quite literally a rain check and Dave having completed the Great North swim, hadn’t planned any walks. So the weather was looking not too bad so decided to tick off Souther Fell. Completed quite alot of the neighbouring wainwrights on our first Twitter walk.

Found ourselves with a free evening after plans changed, as we were still lucky enough to have good weather, thought we could squeeze in another evening walk. Sent a tweet out and despite the lack of brownies, Bruce and Gary joined us for the walk up Walla Crag.Continue reading “Walla crag after work – June 5th 2013”
So it’s been awhile since our last twitter walk, mine was that fateful one in the Langdales when I damaged my knee.Continue reading “Twitteratti walk in the Northern fells – Sunday 26th May”
